Z-Push 2 beta2 released

Postby mku » Thu Mar 15, 2012 11:15 pm

Hi all,

today we released the second beta version of Z-Push 2.

Notes
This version fixes several issues reported for the beta1.
Nokia phones should now be able to connect and synchronize.
We would like to thank everybody who contributed with testing and reporting of issues! Please continue that way.

Additional notes
When updating from beta1 no additional actions are necessary.

The states from Z-Push 1.x or previous 2.0 alpha versions are not compatible.
You should remove these states when updating.

Z-Push 2 implements full automatic re-synchronising of the device
when states are missing or faulty, so this should not be an issue.

The default state directory is /var/lib/z-push, the default log directory /var/log/z-push.

Please create these directories and make them writeable for Apache
or change the configuration parameters to fit your needs.

Be aware that if you are using LOGLEVEL_DEBUG and LOGLEVEL_WBXML Z-Push will be quite talkative,
so it is advisable to use log-rotate on the log file.

- fixed: Last ping cycle should not cause the request to be longer than the lifetime (Mantis #596)

Hi mku,

Thanks for this new release.

For the information, I've just tested it successfully (z-push-2.0beta2-1185) under Fedora 16 x64 server / Apache 2.2 with an Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) HTC Sensation XE smartphone using HTC Mail client.

Only thing that seems missing is the HTML support (Message format is greyed out) probably because the Active Sync procotol version is not 12 / 12.1 or greater I suppose ?
Do you know when this support will be added to z-push 2.x branch please ? Which EAS version will be integrated please ?
Do you have any development version with EAS 12.x or 14.x support, I could be a beta tester/reporter if needed to help ?

I strongly think that with the increasing numbers of Android devices now existing and the popularity of this platform, this functionnality would be very appreciated by much users and would contribute to more Z-Push deployment.

Thanks for your answers and time.

BR,

Laurent

Thanks by advance

Hi Laurent,

Z-Push 2 supports EAS version 14, so HTML emails should work (and it works with various devices). However we only tested Android 4 with an emulator as we don't have such a device and it worked there, so it might be some HTC client issue. Could you open a new thread and post the output of a html mail being synced to the device? If you don't want to post it here, you can send it via PM or email it to us. Which backend have you used btw? HTML email support is not available for all yet.

Thanks & greets, Manfred

Hello developers,

are there any plans to support the new mail search feature of Android 4.0 with Z-Push 2?

Kind regards,
Stephan
