Delayed eMail notification z-push 2beta2 and zarafa 7.0.6

Postby tilman » Tue Apr 03, 2012 9:31 am

Hi anybody,
i am using z-push 2 beta2 with zarafa 7.0.6 and do not get an immediate notification on arrival of new eMails.
I've setup MULTIPLE ActiveSync Accounts on the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N, Galaxy S1 and Galaxy S2
Even in the z-push log, i cannot see an immediate reaction on incoming new emails.
As i understood, z-push 1.x was not able to handle multiple exchange-accounts, but z-push 2.x should.
Any help appreciated.
Best regards
Tilman

Hi Tilman,

are your devices configured for push (as items arrive)? Handling multiple exchange accounts has nothing to do with Z-Push, it depends on the device. If a device supports it, then it's possible. Or do you mean multiple devices for one account? That is also possible as Z-Push per default doesn't limit the device count per user.

Greets, Manfred

Hi Manfred,
thanks for the prompt response.
I didn't check the notification box, sorry for the delayed answer.

My setup is:
Zarafa Host with e.g. user1, user2, user3
Mobile devices devA, devB and devB
Each mobile device (devA, devB, devC) has setup exchange accounts for user1, user2 and user3.
I expect a notification on any new e-mail arrival on each of the three device.

Regards

Hi Tilman,

is this setting set for every account? Is the "automatically sync" option selected on the android? Have you checked the Z-Push log if the devices send Ping requests?

Hi Manfred,
yes, all accounts are set to automatically sync.
And yes, all accounts are setup the same way.
I'll send you a snippet of the logfile via private email which might show you some more details.
Thks again for your time

Hi Tilman,

the log level is too low to say anything for sure (at least DEBUG would be more helpful). You also could try the latest svn version of Z-Push 2.

Hi Manfred,
sorry for the late response. I've been very busy the last weeks.
Now i did some more investigations with lates z-push (beta 3).
I've sent the log files (DEBUG level and special user WBXML log) to you via PM.

What might be of interest is the last entry in the dagent log, which shows the event of the new eMail arrival:
Mon Apr 30 10:28:24 2012: [29896] Delivered message to 'optitas'

As you can see in the logs it takes about 7 mins. to dispatch it to the mobile device.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi Manfred,
just tuied some other stuff:

14:29 created appointment
14:57 appointment synced to mobile

... about half an hour delay!

These events should be in the logfiles too i've sent to you a few minutes ago.

Hi Tilman,

since Zarafa 7.0.5 a different PHP notifications mechanism is in use.

However, at 10:29:50 the mobile was notified that there are changes in the email folder (ping status 2) and at 10:34:46 again. But the mobile only synced at 10:35:41.

Regarding the appointment (I suppose it's "Test appointment 16:00") - at 14:32:42 the mobile was notified, at 14:43:04 it synchronized the calendar and at 14:43:10 the add was sent to the mobile. At 14:57:51 the mobile synchronized again and this appointment was sent as a modify.

So, the problem rather is that the mobile takes so much time to react that there are changes.
